Dialogue with small businesses, government, and local institutions on the operational design of waste reduction in their area

January 22, 2024

The waste emergency condition in Bandung City does not only come from domestic waste, but also from human activities originating from managed areas. Handling waste is not enough from house-to-house but also needs to extend to business actors who produce waste on a daily basis. This also prompted the Bandung Mayor’s Circular Letter regarding the obligation to manage and resolve waste problems independently.

Through the circular letter, there are several recommended steps given by the Mayor, but in its implementation we need to look further at how operations occur in the field. This dialog activity was conducted to bridge the city government (DLH and DISBUDPAR) to consult with food and beverage entrepreneurs in the Horeca area (Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes) about SOPs that can be implemented by them in achieving the goal of managing and resolving waste problems independently in accordance with the circular and applicable laws.
