Ditch the Disposable; A campaign Against Single-Use Plastics
Tanzania Youth Empowerment and Development Organization intends to launch a comprehensive campaign advocating for the reduction and eventual elimination of single-use plastics in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. With the harmful environmental impacts of these plastics becoming increasingly evident, this campaign aims to raise awareness, educate the public, and promote sustainable alternatives. The event involves a short education program to inform the community about the environmental consequences of single-use plastics. This will be conducted in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and creating informative brochures, posters, and online context explaining the long term effects of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health. But again the event recognizes the community involvement through Organizing workshops and seminars in schools (Mlimani primary school and Baptist secondary school), Community centers (street markets including Shekilango, Sinza Makaburini and Bunju A), and businesses to encourage responsible plastic use. And lastly distribution of reusable, eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics, such as reusable bags, water bottles, and straws, in collaboration with local businesses.
