ZERO WASTE: OUR HEALTH AND WEALTH

The Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) in City of San Fernando Pampanga Philippines is advocating ZERO WASTE program. This platform its a campaign to promote designing, managing and processing products to avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste debris. In line with this celebration, the Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC) and Healthcare Waste Management Committee (HWMC) of JBLMGH is conducting a Zero Waste Best Practice and Advocacy Video Contest. The winner of the contest will receive Ten Thousand Pesos (Php 10,000.00) for the first prize, Six Thousand Pesos (Php 6,000.00) for the second prize, and Four Thousand Pesos (Php 4,000.00) for the third prize. This is to empower all the employee to practice the 5R of waste reduction. With this following additional activities:

1. Series of Lay Forum regarding Waste Segregation and 5Rs of Waste Reduction in the Ward and OPD in coordination with the Public Health Unit;
2. Seminar entitled “Zero Waste: Our Health and Wealth” on January 25, 2024;
3. Refuse and Reduce Program – Releasing of Hospital Memorandum “Go Green Everyday – A Plastic Free Day” and encourage personnel to reduce the use of waste generating products for the month of January;
4. Reuse Program – Encourage all JBLMGH personnel to bring old clothes/belongings to be donated to our patients;
5. Recycling Programs – Encourage all JBLMGH employees to create usable objects from generated wastes within their department/unit to be donated/used by the admitted patients and watchers;
6. Rot Programs – Encourage our personnel to bring their leftover food to their homes. Creation of a Decomposing Area and JBLMGH Green Garden Project;
7. Recognition of all units/departments who participated in the International Zero Waste Month Celebration and;
8. Encourage JBLMGH employees to post their unit advocacy regarding zero waste and to use the hashtag #ZeroWasteMonth2024, #GoForZeroWaste and #ZeroWasteOurFuture.
